  Toon Boom Studio Curriculum

The curriculum is divided in two parts, each designed to meet the needs of different educators:

  • Art Curriculum

    Created for the arts program to support educators teaching basic animation courses. It covers the complete set of animation techniques available in Studio.

    The objective of this curriculum is to learn the art of animation. Toon Boom Studio achieves this objective by introducing students to animation principles and learning the notions of timing, velocity and motion. They will also discover various animation techniques, including traditional, digital, cut-out and stop-motion. This curriculum is a great educational tool for educators who wish to teach the foundations of animation, improve creativity and develop inspiration.

  • Cross-discipline Curriculum

    Designed for teachers of traditional subjects such as Science, Languages or Geography. It allows students to use selected animation applications to learn traditional topics in an exciting and motivational new way.

    The Cross Discipline Curriculum consists of a series of projects developed for traditional disciplines such as Science, Geography or Languages. This curriculum was specifically conceived for teachers who are not familiar with animation techniques, to provide them with a new tool that engages the interest of the student and creates a more exciting learning environment.

  Toon Boom Storyboard Curriculum

The objective of this curriculum is to learn pre-production concepts. Toon Boom Storyboard achieves this objective by developing logical planning and skills, helping students understand the critical pre-production phase of any type of project, as well as emphasizing the importance of pre-production accuracy and checks. Each module can take four hours in the class, along with an additional four hours in the lab to do the exercises. The Toon Boom Storyboard Curriculum is available in both Student’s and Teacher’s editions.

Learn animation fundamentals with the Pencil Check Pro curriculum

  Toon Boom Pencil Check Pro Curriculum

The objective of this curriculum is to learn and practice animation fundamentals. Toon Boom Pencil Check Pro achieves this objective by enabling students to create and test quality animation like professionals and facilitating production tasks thanks to advanced exposure sheets. Modules included in the Pencil Check Pro Curriculum are: Presentation and Introduction; Interface and Capture; Timing and Xsheet; Camera, Sound and Render; and, Colour and Animation. Each module can take four hours in the class, along with an additional four hours in the lab to do the exercises. The Toon Boom Pencil Check Pro Curriculum is available in both Student’s and Teacher’s editions.

Teach pre-production concepts with the Toon Boom Storyboard Pro curriculum

  Toon Boom Storyboard Pro Curriculum

The objective of this curriculum is to teach pre-production concepts. Toon Boom Storyboard Pro achieves this objective by developing students logical planning and skills, covering the essentials in preparation and detailed development of any audiovisual project, understanding the importance of the pre-production phase, and emphasizing accuracy and checks in the production process. Modules included in the Storyboard Pro Curriculum are: Presentation and Introduction; Creating a Storyboard; Exporting a Storyboard; Creating an Animatic; and, Exporting an Animatic. Each module can take four hours in the class, along with an additional four hours in the lab to do the exercises. The Toon Boom Storyboard Pro Curriculum is available in both Student’s and Teacher’s editions.

Teach animation production using the Toon Boom Animate curriculum

  Toon Boom Animate Curriculum

The objective of this curriculum is to teach animation production. Toon Boom Animate achieves this objective by covering the complete paperless workflow for cut-out and tradigital animation production processes.

Modules included in the Animate Curriculum are: Presentation and Introduction; Drawing - Character Design; Drawing – Colours; Cut-out Animation - Getting Started; Cut-out Animation - More Animation; Cut-out Animation - Building a Puppet Part 1 and Part 2; Tradigital Animation – Animating; Tradigital Animation - Ink and Paint; Tradigital Animation – Morphing; Compositing - Getting Started; Compositing - Camera and Trajectories; Compositing - Symbols and Libraries; Compositing - Sound and Lip-Sync; Setting Up a 3D Space; and, Compositing – Effects.

Modules can be grouped to adapt to schools’ needs and be used as a Complete Outline, a Cut-out Outline, a Tradigital Outline, a Quick Overview Outline, or a Quick Cut-out Overview Outline. Each module can take four hours in the class, along with an additional four hours in the lab to do the exercises. The Toon Boom Animate Curriculum is available in both Student’s and Teacher’s editions.
