The Galway Technical Institute becomes a Toon Boom Animation Animation ATC

Toon Boom Animation Inc. announced today that Galway Technical Institute (GTI) has become a Centre of Excellence (COE). Toon Boom COEs are accredited post-secondary schools, colleges and universities, recognized for offering programs that prepare graduates for the animation marketplace. An accredited COE gives students direct access to animation experts and industry-leading animation software within a real-world, production-based environment. "We are very proud that GTI has become a Toon Boom Centres of Excellence. GTI's mission is to develop the knowledge, skills and competencies of students by designing programmes that are innovative and elite." said Marie-Eve Chartrand, Director of Customer Success.

GTI is the largest dedicated college of Further Education & Training Council in the West of Ireland, providing a range of full and part-time courses to over 3,000 students annually. GTI's Advanced Certificate in Animation offers a multi-dimensional learning experience which gives students the opportunity to develop their art and design concepts and ideas. Students are introduced to the language, media and processes of animation. They are encouraged to explore and develop creative, critical and analytical skills. Learners also have the opportunity to display their work at the prestigious end-of year GTI Student Art & Design Exhibition.

The Advanced Certificate in Animation is a fusion of art and technology designed to help students develop a good understanding of contemporary animation skills from narrative storytelling to visual effects and technology. There is a strong emphasis on drawing at an advanced level as well as developing your individual creativity. The course is delivered through ongoing projects and tutorials. Students are encouraged to become self-motivated and disciplined through ongoing academic achievement and tutor feedback. The course is designed to enhance existing skills and capabilities in a variety of animation and art-related fields.
