Toon Boom Storyboard Pro has won a 2012 Primetime Emmy® Engineering Award.
It takes time for a new product to build the industry credibility required before you can submit it for consideration for such a prestigious award.
From previous experience we knew that we would be up against some tough competition and obtaining a Primetime Emmy® Engineering Award meant that the software has to be industry-proven. This means that a lot of users have to work with it on a daily basis and find it so ground-breaking that it has changed the way in which they work.
Storyboard Pro was initially developed in 2007 from the need of animation studios to have a shorter and more cost effective way of creating original storyboards, editing and planning the use of scripts and creating animatics, all digitally, without the tedious and costly traditional method of drawing and scanning sheets of paper. Toon Boom’s engineering wizards worked with storyboard artists to create a system which fulfilled all of the needs of the storyboarder and the production team. Over the years it has been improved and upgraded until it has become the recognized industry standard it is today.
Toon Boom would like to congratulate our entire company for their dedication, teamwork and outstanding vision in bringing Storyboard Pro so far in such a short time.
“With its widespread adoption throughout the industry, we are honored the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has recognized Storyboard Pro’s significant impact and contribution to the production of televised content,” said Joan Vogelesang, president and chief executive officer of Toon Boom.
“Storyboard Pro is the only true storyboarding application that offers all the key tasks that storyboard artists require for any type of project, be it animation or live-action”, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences stated.
Toon Boom Animation received an Engineering Emmy® for Storyboard Pro storyboarding software at the 64th Primetime Emmy® Engineering Awards ceremony on Wednesday, October 24th at the Loews Hollywood Hotel in Hollywood. The event was hosted by actress Olivia Munn.
Engineering Emmy’s are “presented to an individual, company or organization for engineering developments so significant an improvement on existing methods or so innovative in nature that they materially affect the transmission, recording or reception of television.”
