Toon Boom Animation has awarded a “Toon Boom Centre of Excellence” designation to Ontario's Algonquin College. This is the first time this designation has been issued in Canada. Algonquin College has animation graduates working at Disney and on movies such as Life of Pi.
The designation ceremony took place earlier today at the College’s Woodroffe campus. In attendance were, Joan Vogelesang, President and CEO, Toon Boom Animation; And representing Alogonquin College - Claude Brulé, Vice President, Academic; Peter Larock, Chair, Design Studies; Neil Hunter, Coordinator, Animation program.

Claude Brulé, Vice President, Academic at Algonquin College said, “We are extremely honoured to receive this designation in recognition of the hands-on, applied learning we offer in our Animation program.” Joan Vogelesang, Toon Boom's President and CEO said, “Honouring Algonquin College as a Toon Boom Centre of Excellence is the culmination of many wonderful years of collaboration with this high-standard educational institution. The quality and relevancy of Algonquin College’s Animation curriculum is key to preparing graduates for the marketplace and ensuring their successful integration in the animation industry workforce.”
