DP0008: How can I import my drawings in to Digital Pro by using the same name I have used for my drawing? Glossary Drawing name structure: Digital Pro uses unique drawing file name structure in order to recognize the file name as the column name and drawing name and this column name is used as prefix name. For example, if you have column name as 멳oy?and the drawing name is 1, the actual file name will be boy-1.xxx (where xxx is the extension of the file type. Ex, .tga, .psd or .tvg). And the column name and the drawing name are separated by - (hyphen). So there is a prefix name in front and the drawing name is followed by - ([column name]-[drawing name].XXX (ex, boy-1.tvg)). Step 1. First, create a drawing file name with prefix name. Ex, tomy-1.tga, tomy-2.tga, tomy-3.tga and so on. Do not make any drawing name with space that if you do that, it will prevent Digital Pro from understanding the drawing name. Step 2. Using import drawing option, browse the file by clicking the folder icon and select. You can select multiple or all drawings in that folder. Step 3. You can create the element (column) when importing drawings or you can import drawings within a pre- existing drawing column.
Since this is not what we are looking for the purposes of this discussion, we will use the "Create Elements" option. Now there are two more options available which are "Create Single Element Named []" and "Create Elements based on Filenames". Let's say I have drawings named boy-1.tga, boy-2.tga. If you have mixed prefix names (which occurs most often); let say I have drawings named boy-1.tga, boy-2.tga, girl-1.tga, girl-2.tga. You may not want to use "Create Single Element Named []" option since if you name the element as "kid", the result will be kid-1, kid-1_1, kid-2, and kid-2_1 since all the drawings are using different element prefix name while the drawing names are same and this is contrary to your intention. So the best way to import multiple drawings with different prefix name is using "Create Elements based on Filenames". With this option, you will have a result that there will be two columns (boy and girl), and each column contains drawing 1 and 2. So if you are planning to import multiple drawings at the same time, you need to make the drawing name and plan the file-naming accordingly, in advance. Lastly, there is also a Script available in Digital Pro to change the prefix/suffix name of the selected elements after elements are created and this will be very useful for cutout character to have a naming convention for side, front, 3 quarters. But this will be a different approach since it does not affect the actual drawing name. |
