Error while saving a project: " Error while saving the animation set. Unable to access file xxxxx.tbc.new "

You might encounter a problem in which Toon Boom Studio will tell you that there is an error while saving the animation set and it can't access some file.tbc.new.

This is caused by the fact that when you save a project on your machine, Toon Boom Studio makes a backup of the file named .new then save the file, compare them and erase the file.tbc.new. The problem occurs due to the user you are currently using don’t have total control over the folder your project is saved in and need to be able to delete files inside that folder. Simply give your user the rights to read write and delete in the folder and everything should be working.

If you don't have access to the user permission over the folder, simply change the location of the file you want to save to some other place you have rights to delete files. If the problem is caused by Global.tbc.new, that means you can't write or delete in the folder in which your local library is located. You can change the location of the Global library in the preferences of Toon Boom Studio (Edit>Preferences>Then Browse the Global Library to another folder).

Also, make sure that you copy any templates you have on a CD locally to your computer to prevent this problem to happen.

If the issue encountered is related to Toon Boom Templates.tbc.new which cannot be saved then this issue is related to the fact there is a issue with the link of your default templates. You can easily address that by opening your Library window, right clicking on the Toon Boom Template and Close Library. Then right click in the left section of the library where the catalogs are and use the Restore Default Templates function. This should solve the issue.
