Importing Flash and Illustrator files
When I import SWF or AI files into Animate or Animate Pro why does the function for importing these files appear greyed out?
The quick answer to this is because the Library folders are locked.
Unlike other file formats that are imported into Animate or Animate Pro, SWF and AI files are imported through the library.
You can unlock a Library folder by right clicking it and selecting "Get Right to Modify"
Unlocking the Library folders:
- Open the Template library. To access this click on the Library tab located at the top right of your screen or open it from the top menu Windows > Library.
- In the Template Library, right click on the Library folder which you want to unlock.
- Select Right to Modify from the menu. The folder is now unlocked. The import .swf and .ai option should be available.
- Select the unlocked Library folder. The import .swf and .ai option should be available from the top menu: File > Import > SWF, Illustrator Files to Library.
Note: The Symbols folder does not import these file types.
