Error Message displayed while saving a project

Error Message displayed while saving a project: "Error while saving the animation set. Unable to access file"

You may encounter the following situation:

Toon Boom Studio will notify you that there is an error while saving the animation set and it can not access some files.

When you save a project on your machine, Toon Boom Studio makes a backup of the file named .new then saves the file, compares them and erase the file
The problem occurs when the current user does not have total control over the folder your project is saved in and needs to be able to delete files inside that folder.

This is easily resolved by giving your user the rights to Read, Write and Delete in that folder.

If you do not have access to the user permissions for the folder, you can do the following:

  1. Move the file you want to save, to a location where you have rights to delete files.

If the problem is caused by, that means you can not write or delete in the folder where your local library is located.
You can do the following:

  1. Change the location of the Global library in Toon Boom Studio Edit > Preferences.
  2. Browse the Global Library to another folder.

NOTE: To prevent this problem from happenning, any templates which you have on a CD should be copied locally on your computer.

If the issue encountered is related to Toon Boom which cannot be saved then this issue is related to the fact there is a problem with the default templates link.
You can do the following:

  1. Open your Library window.
  2. Right click on the Toon Boom Template and Close Library.
  3. Right click in the left section of the library where the catalogs are and use the Restore Default Templates function.

This should solve the issue.
