At last!

We know you have been waiting, and today, these updates ensure optimal stability and performance for the development of your animated feature films, TV series, video games and storyboards.

New potential for our software.

Apple’s M1 chip announcement represented a significant step forward for Apple, and these new Toon Boom updates also represent a new potential for our software for today and into the future.

We work closely with Apple, as do many other software companies, to test operating systems and hardware prior to market launch and this was the case for the M1. There are however differences with test kits and official releases from Apple. Many organizations have been impacted by the hardware changes from Apple and have been working to bring their products back up to the performance standards they previously had.

A major upgrade from our team.

Toon Boom’s R&D team put in 18 months of programming, modified 3 million lines of code to ensure important performance gains, porting Harmony and Storyboard Pro to support the M series of chips from Apple. The New Silicon updates have come together thanks to a major upgrade of the Qt API to the latest version as well as a refactoring of the OpenGL code creating a snappier interface, full support for retina displays ensuring drawings and effects are seen in their actual resolution, faster performance, corrections of issues with transparencies, and more.

This update is for both Mac Intel, M1 and Windows, providing the same great benefits across all supported platforms. Additionally included in these updates we have also standardized the End User Licensing Agreement for our products. Read our updated EULA.

Happy storyboarding and animating.

We hope you enjoy the New Harmony and Storyboard Pro Silicon updates.
