Toon Boom Promotes The Caribbean as an Animation Destination

Montreal, Canada - July 21, 2011

Toon Boom Animation is dedicated to building a dynamic global animation community and has recently initiated several outreach programs in the Caribbean. Toon Boom is delighted to announce that we are now providing mentorship to new studios in the Caribbean.

“It is a great honour for Toon Boom to assist in building the animation industry in the Caribbean, for two main reasons. Not only does it enable local economies to diversify from the traditional sectors, but more importantly it enables them to generate creative jobs,” stated Joan Vogelesang, President and Chief Executive Officer at Toon Boom Animation.

In that context, Toon Boom will have the pleasure of hosting a delegation from Jamaica and Barbados during the week of July 25, 2011. Toon Boom has organized some interesting visits for the delegates, including tours of leading animation facilities and post-secondary educational institutions in Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto. During these tours, each delegate will have the opportunity to understand how studios are set up and how this fits with the type of projects they do. They will also become familiar with the implementation of higher education curriculum used to train graduates for the marketplace.

In addition, Toon Boom will be the proud sponsor of the Tenth Anniversary of Animae Caribe, during the upcoming CaribbeanTales 2011 Film Showcase and Market Access rogram, to be held in Toronto, from September 7 to 17, 2011. For the past five years, Toon Boom has been a great supporter of Animae Caribe, which was founded to raise the awareness of animation and technology in the Caribbean.
