#ToonChat: The Role of Style in Animation

by Mike Schnier

19 June 2019

#ToonChat is a weekly event where animators and artists gather to discuss topics on Twitter every Friday from 6-7PM EST.

Edit:
You can find the collected tweets from last week’s chat here.

The topic of this week’s #ToonChat discussion is The Role of Style in Animation. The guest experts in this weeks chat are animators who contributed to our Harmony 17 Demo Video: Frank Summers, Danielle Mutispaugh, Dan Budziszewski and the team at D’Art Shtajio.

Friday’s chat will include the following discussion topics:

  • What is the difference between style and technique?
  • How do animators develop style and where do influences come from?
  • How will the style of animation change in the future?

About the chat:

If this is your first time participating in a Twitter chat, here is how the format works: Users meet on Twitter on Fridays at 6PM EST using the #ToonChat hashtag. Over the course of an hour, our account (@ToonBoom) will pose six questions (numbered Q1, Q2, Q3 …) to prompt responses from our chat participants. Be sure to include the #ToonChat hashtag in all your posts to make it easy for other participants to discover your comments. Respectful discussion between participants is always encouraged!
