Xentrix Studios is one of the fastest growing animation studios in Asia, specializing in feature films, television series and video games. It is based in the Philippines, an animation outsourcing hub preferred by Western producers for its competitive rates, high quality and English-speaking workforce. With surging demand, Xentrix is helping meet the need for local talent trained in the global industry’s leading software with a Toon Boom Harmony training program.
The Xentrix Toon Boom Harmony paid training program recently completed its second run. Over the course of three months, 15 students in their early 20s learned future-proofed, specialized skills like rigging and compositing. This influx of talent could not come at a better time; Filipino service studio work for foreign productions hit $153 million in 2015, with year-over-year growth in the double digits according to “Nikkei Asia“.

All of the graduates from Xentrix’s Harmony training program are now working in production at the studio.
“The day after the training finished, all of our graduates immediately began working on the P. King Duckling series. Some are also working on Rescue Bots Academy,” says Alice Dizon Manuel, Xentrix Studios’ managing director.
She continues, “It is beneficial for animation studios to have their own training programs — with training designed around the requirements of in-house projects.”
Ultimately, Harmony training programs like Xentrix’s are aligned with Toon Boom Animation’s mission of creating an interconnected global animation ecosystem. They are proof that local animators in emerging markets can easily and quickly learn the industry-standard software — opening them to international cultural and financial opportunities, and lifelong creative careers. While the Philippines is famed as an outsourcing hub for foreign productions, as more homegrown artists are trained, ideally it will also facilitate original Filipino stories being told too.
The next Xentrix Toon Boom Harmony training course begins October 1, 2018. For more information, please email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
