Paperless Animation

Paperless Animation in Harmony is a five-day course led by Toon Boom’s Senior Solutions Specialist. Participants will learn the fundamentals of frame-by-frame animation using traditional and digital tools through introduction exercises and building and animating production scenes using Harmony Premium. This course is intended for artists who are new to paperless animation in Harmony, but are familiar with the animation principles.

Prerequisite

To take this course, attendees should be an animator and understand the animation principles.

Course Format

The format of this class is instructor-led and is a hands-on activity lab.

Objectives

At the end of this class, the attendee will be able to:

  • Navigate the user interface
  • Create palettes and add colours
  • Create rough and clean artwork using digital drawing tools optimized for production
  • Paint animation using art layers and paint tools
  • Create basic layout and posing using the Guide tools
  • Import images and 3D models to use as a reference
  • Effectively use tools like the Onion Skin and Shift & Trace
  • Animate a paperless scene from start to finish
  • Apply lip sync to a paperless animation using layers and automation
  • Use deformers and morphing to quickly animate simple effects
  • Export a project
