This month we are hosting conversations about the ink & paint process, from both a traditional animation perspective and also line quality considerations in cutout rigs. Julie Roulet is a French artist who graduated from ECV Bordeaux with a Master’s Degree and is currently working as a fulltime freelance illustrator and animator. She was also selected as a Toon Boom Ambassador in 2025! We invited Julie onto the livestream to discuss her practice as a freelance artist as well as take us on a tour of the design and 2D effects that go into animating a mouth-watering bowl of ramen.

Story artist Mike Morris has had a career that’s been… well, storied. Having spent most of his youth in California, it was a quick move for him to Los Angeles. In the City of Angels, he has developed a thriving career and is best known for his work on television series. Special guest Morgan Boyd is recent graduate from Utah Valley University who specializes in 2D cutout animation.
