For 30 years and counting, Toon Boom Animation has been the global leader in pre-production and 2D animation software with clients in over 140 countries. We have made our mark with products which include Harmony (end-to-end animation) and Storyboard Pro/a> (storyboarding and layout), which continue to build upon their reputation for high-performance tools that push the limits of creativity.  Producer (production management) and Jump (drawing and animation tools for game development) are the most recent new products to join the line-up.       My name is Marie-Eve Chartrand and I am the Director of Customer Success at Toon Boom.I have been at Toon Boom for 19 years but I also completed a few contracts with Toon Boom right out of school 22 years ago. That's when I fell in love with the company.

      My career at Toon Boom has greatly evolved. I was presented with several growth opportunities throughout the years. I started as a software instructor, traveling to studios and teaching our products. I then migrated to the Multi-Media Content Creation team, where we handled the creation of most visual content, documents, and technical documentation. I became the MCCT team lead and from there became a team manager. My role in the company continued to progress with the opportunity to oversee Creative Services, Technical Support, and Professional Services. During that time, I had also started supporting the creation of the Toon Boom Japan office. I spent several months in Japan to assist with the development of the market. Having gained a strong interest in our customers’ experience, upon my return, the leadership team supported the creation of the Customer Success department, which is what I am deeply focused on these days and absolutely love.

      Being in a director’s position, my daily activities revolve a lot around coaching team members, data analysis, reporting and advising, decision-making, and collaborating with other departments. As I represent the Customer Success department, my role consists of understanding our customers’ needs, their habits, and how to best support them. To do so, I work with the Customer Success Managers on my team, I analyze a lot of data, and I meet with clients regularly. I report my findings to provide insight to the leadership team and other departments. I also work on various initiatives and projects to improve the overall experience. Of course, I handle several emails and attend meetings.

      Toon Boom is a very close-knit family. I felt it the moment I joined the company as a freelancer back in 2002, and I knew this is where I wanted to work. My well-being has always been a priority for any of my managers. It is also a multicultural company, and I have always appreciated working with people from everywhere around the world. It’s a great value to my personal life. As my career path shows, there is a chance to grow in your career and as a person. The company evolves and changes, allowing people to move along with it. I consider myself lucky to have a great manager who can mentor me in my role. I also appreciate having coworkers from everywhere around the world who bring different perspectives, strengths, and experience. It’s exhilarating to work with colleagues who are strong experts in their fields and to exchange ideas. It keeps your mind open.

      My team is phenomenal. I am sincerely grateful to be working with four fantastic Customer Success Managers, each with a true passion for our clients’ satisfaction and complementary strengths. I love that they are always eager to share input and ideas on how to improve the experience and internal processes. They are strong pillars.

      Besides allowing me to step into new roles across departments as well as joining the leadership team, over the years, Toon Boom supported my education to be able to execute my tasks to the best of my ability. I have gained a tremendous amount of knowledge in the past two decades through hands-on experience, mentoring, and academic courses. My story is a story of growth opportunities!

      How long have you worked at Toon Boom?

      15 years

      What has your career journey been like?

      I started on a temporary contract for 1 year as a replacement for a person who was going on maternity leave, during that time, the business grew and the COE offered me a full time position; this was also due to my work ethic.

      What do your daily tasks look like?

      I process all orders done via our sales managers, agents and resellers, issuing of licenses and troubleshooting any license related issues, liaising with the sales and support team.

      How would you describe the company culture at Toon Boom?

      It's very people friendly.
