Apple M1-Powered Macs

Announcement of Apple M1-Powered Macs: Compatibility with Harmony and Storyboard Pro

Apple is in the process of transitioning their line of macOS computers from x86_64 to a new ARM-based hardware architecture, as announced to developers at WWDC in June 2020. As of November 17, Apple is releasing their first computers powered by the M1 system-on-a-chip.

Artists and animation professionals should be aware that major hardware architecture changes may introduce compatibility issues, particularly with complex graphics and video production software built for x86_64 processors. Toon Boom is focused on evaluating these changes with respect to both Storyboard Pro and Harmony.

Our clients can rely on us to share all progress as we move forward in evaluating these important changes and how our Apple users will be impacted. At this time, we recommend that our customers delay purchases until we have evaluated compatibility with the new production hardware.
